Re: Deeney or Sturridge
Neither! Both too expensive for what you get:one unproven in the scheme of things the other injury prone, huge wages big fee big ego & won't feliver consistantly. Otherwisehe'd be playing regularly

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
Sturridge is very one-footed, and in my book that in itself is evidence of laziness. I just can't believe that a professional footballer would not spend half his training time eliminating a clear weakness .
Even Sterling, equally one-footed as recently as the summer, has now developed something of a left foot shot: it's no coincidence that his confidence and effectiveness have soared.

Re: Deeney or Sturridge

Bilic is a good, intelligent lad but will he ever start wiv two strikers regularly? Sturridge is great in a duo, but 💩 on his own. Here's hoping he'll form a decent partnership wiv Ayew/Sakho.

I hear that England international Carlton's impressing in training. Well, when I say impressing I mean he gets there on time. Well, when I say he gets there on time he's only 10 minutes late most days.

Flannel

Yea i agree.
Sort of player on Payets level.

Sort of player we could certainly do with.

But no fucking chance of it happening unfortunately.

One downside is that Liverpool always drive a very hard bargain, just look at how much Benteke went for last summer. He won't be cheap.

Neither of them :-)

Rather get Sakho fully fit and back on board than these 2.

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
I have seen some rubbish on here in my time , but you gentleman that are stating you would not want Daniel Sturridge are simply CLUELESS.

He would walk In our team and scores goals for fun .......all this , he is one footed or selfish.................who cares and his one foot is better than most strikers two feet !

Would you want him at West Ham ? of course we would he is what we are crying out for . But the real question is how much would you prepare to spend on the hope that he can stay fit for a period of time. If he carried no injuries you would have to pay £50m to pick him up..........however as he is injury prone I think anything over £25m for West Ham would be a risk!

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
It's silly season chaps, we need strikers so any vaguely available will be linked

From the sublime to the ridiculous, agents, journos and clubs will hang their wares upon our name

Of these, Deeney is neither available or even a striker, Sturridge a player when fit but too frequently is not and has a slate missing

Non story the both

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
First saw Sturridge when he tore us a new one at Bolton few yrs back when he was loaned to them.
Class player.but like so many English players hasn't fulfilled his potential..
Unlucky with injuries is his excuse..but has a suspect character also.

"Sturridge is one footed, lazy and been dumped by previous teams"

If he's lazy and one footed I'm happy to take that seeing as he has managed to bag 63 league goals in 126 league games since becoming a first team regular. as for being dumped by previous teams, are we that high and mighty that we can't take a player who left man city in search of first team football, then left chelsea because he couldn't get in ahead of drogba and now wants out of liverpool? must we only buy players that are at the very top of their game and wanted by their teams? (that would tend to mean they arent available, by the way).

Are you sure you've seen Danny sturridge play? By far the most naturally gifted striker in the England squad, and one of the best in the league when fit.

claretandblue 7:44 Tue Nov 15
Re: Deeney or Sturridge
Deeney would be the better of the two by far. Still not what I want. Sturridge is one footed, lazy and been dumped by previous teams. Not a good endorsement. How does he get in England squad is a mystery to me.

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
Torres did not set the world alight here?

65 league goals in just over 100 league games, including 24 in his first season. 81 in 142 games in all comps for the scousers.

Would you care to explain to me exactly what is setting the world alight?

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
Buying a striker is very tricky especially if trying to get one from overseas, when Liverpool bought Torres kanouti and fork an were getting as many goals as him in Spain and did not set the world alight here. Soldado top scorer in Spain was poor here. I think if you buy someone who scores here at keast you know what you're getting. The Spurs and Chelsea new strikers ain't setting the world alight either

Re: Deeney or Sturridge

I think most people appreciate that signing a top (marquee) striker is difficult, however fans' expectations were raised in the summer.

Criticsim of the owners following their spectacular failire to deliver something that they shot their mouths off about in the summer, isn't worthy of sympathy. They really haven't helped themselves.

What makes it worse is that their media announcement further alienated one of the only members of our playing squad capable of doing the job (admittedly he had existing issues).

It's like when they go on about the most successful stadium migration in history! I mean most people are sympathetic to teething problems, but not when they've been blowing their own trumpets about how great everything is.

A little humility would earn them a little understanding. Unfortunately they appear incapable of this.

I'd take Deeney any day. Great player and doesn't take any shit.

That last goal he scored against us should have been up for goal of the month.

Re: Deeney or Sturridge
Sturrige is the probably the only world class English striker at present. Strange but true. Only his injury record and his wages would stop most top foreign clubs looking at him.

Held his own with Suarez in terms of goals scored between them and he was banging them in when Suarez was on his ban.

I dont think theirs one team in the world where he wouldnt be a good additiion to their squad. (Which is why we wont get him).

Having said that, if it was down to him or Manduzic I'd take Manduzic because we just cant afford injuries at the moment.
